Third guest appearance at the Nordschleife in three weeks
Three races in three weekends: BMW Sports Trophy Team Schubert is heading back to the Eifel again, this time to take part in the second leg of the VLN Endurance Championship on the Nürburgring (DE) this Saturday. So far this season, they have claimed three podium spots in two races. Following on from third place for the number 20 BMW Z4 GT3 in the first leg of the VLN, they finished in second and third in the 6-hour qualification race for the Nürburgring 24 Hours.
Dirk Werner (DE) and Alexander Sims (GB) will be contesting the 4-hour race this Saturday in car number 19. Jens Klingmann (DE), Claudia Hürtgen (DE) and Martin Tomczyk (DE) will be in action in the number 20 BMW Z4 GT3.
Stefan Wendl (Team Manager Schubert Motorsport): “Once again the priority this weekend is to complete as many test kilometres as possible, but we also have other goals. Firstly, we need to ensure that car number 20 qualifies for the Top 30 Qualifying at the 24-
hour race. Also, together with our partner KW, we developed ideas for damper settings during the 6-hour race that we would like to test further. Lastly, we would be delighted to finish on the podium again. After all, good results are confirmation that we are on the right
Dirk Werner (BMW Z4 GT3, car number 19): “After being unlucky in a few races this year already, it felt really good to stand on the podium last weekend. However, results are not the most important factor in this phase of preparation for the 24-hour race. Once again the priority in the next race is to rack up valuable test kilometres.”
Martin Tomczyk (BMW Z4 GT3, car number 20): “After a two-week break that I used to prepare for the DTM season on the Hungaroring in my BMW M4 DTM, I am looking forward to returning to BMW Sports Trophy Team Schubert. Our number 20 BMW Z4 GT3 has finished on the podium twice in two races. That shows that we are on the right track with our preparations for the 24-hour race. I hope that I can claim a podium finish again on Saturday.”
